Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You might have noticed that stiffness has already been mentioned within this list. This is because one of the most crucial elements to consider when purchasing a new mattress is firmness (and the way that firmness impacts comfort). These factors will tell you the mattress’s suitability for your chosen sleep position (s). Let’s have a review of the comfort and firmness in the Helix mattress range.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a variety of hardness options, with the softest being moderately soft and the most firm ones being moderately firm. The Helix Sunset is on the lower end of the scale We evaluated it with a score at 5.5 out of 10 in the firmness scale. (A 6.5/10 is considered to be an industry standard for medium firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10, which means it’s still more soft than the norm. It’s softer than the Helix Midnight as well as the Helix Dusk sit somewhere between the spectrum. Both of these mattresses received a rating of around 7/10, which is slightly heavier than average. They are Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn are on the firmer side of the spectrum with both getting an 7.5/10 rating (firmer than the average).

It is important to keep in mind that the degree of firmness is a personal preference. If you’re looking for firmness, you may evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your body weight and personal preferences. Heavier persons, for example, may find these mattresses more firm as they can push further into the mattress to get to the support layers. On the other hand, people who weigh less be surprised to find these mattresses more supple due to their position on the comfort level of every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix mattress for a lengthy time to get an accurate picture of what it’s like to lie on the models in different positions. Check out what we found!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Inner MattressDue to its softness the Helix Sunset wasn’t comfortable enough to be a good back sleeper. Our hips were a bit too far into the mattress, causing the spine to shift.

The Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t the best for back sleepers, it’s ideal for those who sleep on their sides. We were very relaxed in this position as the mattress’s softness cushioned any pressure areas around the hip and shoulder. It’s actually one of the most comfortable mattresses to relieve hip discomfort we’ve seen.

The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping because it is soft. Our hips sank too deeply into the mattress and pulled the spine out of alignment, just like they did when we were sleeping back to back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhen reclining while sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not outstanding. If you’re planning to sleep in this position all night, you’ll probably want a firmer mattress that offers additional support and helps maintain the proper alignment of your spine.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping on the side due to its softness. We didn’t feel any unwelcome pressure around the shoulder or hip.

The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping. Our hips sank too deeply in the mattress causing the spine to misalign.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhile resting on the Helix Midnight We felt amazing. We enjoyed a touch of pressure relief, but without losing spine alignment due to the mattress’s excellent combination of support and comfort. It’s the most comfortable mattress for back sleepers on this list.

Although the Helix Midnight is more firm than the Helix Sunset or Moonlight and Moonlight, we discovered it to be comfortable to sleep on our sides on this mattress. It offers adequate pressure relief between the hip and shoulder, in our opinion.

While stomach sleeping on the Helix Midnight, we were good but not great. Sleepers who are in this way all night long should look for a firmer mattress that provides greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskIt’s the Helix Dusk is more supportive than other models we’ve tried, which could explain why we felt comfortable while lying upon our backs. We’re sure that we’ll be able to maintain good spinal alignment throughout the night because of the mattress’s suppleness.

It’s probably not surprising that the Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for side sleeping given that we’ve moved into the firmer end on the scale. There was some discomfort around the hip and shoulder that could cause discomfort if you slept in this position all night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight since it can help them maintain appropriate spinal alignment. However, stomach sleepers with heavier weights might not get enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the greatest bed for back discomfort. It’s the ideal mattress for back sleepers who require extra support due to increased weight or back pain, as well as other reasons. The more firm construction of this mattress helps in keeping the hips elevated and in alignment in alignment with spine.

Since it is the case that Helix Twilight is more firm than the average mattress, we found it difficult to lay on our backs on this mattress. We felt as if we were being suffocated by the shoulders and hips.

Most stomach sleepers should find the Helix Twilight mattress to be a great choice, as the mattress’s firmness should offer enough support to the spine in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who like an extra firm mattress will love the Helix Dawn’s high level of support. But, those who want an occasional relief from pressure when resting on their backs may likely find this mattress to be too firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too hard to be used for sleeping on your side and you’ll end up with a lot of pressure points in your hips and shoulders. The Helix Dawn that is soft will be considerably better for those who sleep on their sides.

It is the Helix Dawn mattress is considered to be the best mattress for stomach sleepers, in our opinion. In the evening this supportive and firm mattress will keep your hips up and aligned to the spinal column.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses all have a hybrid design that incorporates foam over coils. However, despite these similarities however, each Helix mattress has its own distinct individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top with a balanced foam feel. The soft comfort layer allows sleepers to sink in and provides the mattress with a slow-moving feel.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, gives a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared with the Sunset one, which is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight, like the Helix Sunset, has an even feel and slow-moving top layer. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset which allows sleepers to sink deeper into the top layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and lively. This is due to the use active foam in the top layer as well as coils in the layer supporting it.

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, features a slower-moving top. It’s still a solid mattress with the comfort layer being a little more enveloping.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a firm, bouncy feel to it because to the use of foam that is dynamic (in the comfort layer) and coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

The Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure reduction) or the Helix Dusk are likely to be the preferred choice for back sleepers (which provides a more firmer spine support).

Sleeping on the Helix Late at Night (if you prefer a slightly more spongy feeling) or the more comfortable and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight (or Sunset) is more likely for people who are average-weight side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are of moderate weight should prefer the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for those who are heavy-weight back sleepers, as it relieves tension while ensuring the alignment of the spine.

The most comfortable models within the Helix range, such as Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset, should provide sufficient of pressure relief for heavy-weight side sleepers.

For stomach sleepers with heavy weights however, will most likely go to the Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) for proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a wide range of models for light back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all provide plenty of support for the spine and various degrees of pressure relief that can accommodate various sleeping styles.

Similar to the side sleepers that are lightweight, you can select from Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset that should all offer adequate pressure relief, while allowing users to customize the level of hardness according to their requirements.

Finally, stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight, or Dawn as the most comfortable.

Every Helix mattresses, in particular, have a SoftTouch Design cover that is flexible, soft and breathable. This design allows air to circulate freely through the mattress’s top. Meanwhile, each Helix model is equipped with an extra layer of support that is made of individually wrapped coils that are stacked over a dense base foam which gives the mattress the overall shape and stability.

Memory Plus Foam. The layer is extremely flexible, meaning that the mattress overall responds more quickly to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The main comfort layer is made from Helix Dynamic Foam, a foam substitute made of latex that is bouncy and responsive. It’s a layer composed of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think of the Dusk’s structure as being identical to that from Helix Sunset’s construction. Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam can be laid over Memory Plus Foam to produce a bouncy smooth surface. Memory Plus Foam offers pressure relief as sleepers sink deeper into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above an extremely dense and high-grade polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. Its Memory Plus Foam adds some convenience, but don’t get fooled: this is an extremely firm mattress that has very less give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We put Helix mattresses through a series of tests. Helix mattresses to a series of tests to see how well they performed in key areas such as temperature regulation and motion transfer, edge support, and many more. Keep reading to find out what they did!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Do you feel hot or cold when sleeping? If you’re worried about the possibility of overheating, think about purchasing a LUXE version of your mattress.

Motion Transfer

Based on our testing, some models outperform others when it comes to keeping out any disturbances that might occur on the surface of the mattress. For instance, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight offered the most effective motion isolation. This is due there is a slower-moving memory foam near the top of each of these models, which do an excellent job of absorption of motion. These are among the most comfortable mattresses for couples available on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress provided an excellent edge support across the board. As we sat and fell asleep near the edges of every model, we felt safe.

Durability

All of the Helix mattresses are manufactured with high-density foams and robust coils which ensure that they can endure a long time.

Off-Gassing

We did notice the off-gassing of the six Helix mattresses initially. This will go away within a couple of days if not sooner.

Noise

There was no noticeable noise while moving about on any of these mattresses during the time we wrote our review. However, because each mattress has coils, it’s likely that they’ll begin to make noise as time passes.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, a majority of people are concerned about how simple it will be to move positions on the mattress. Because all of the Helix mattresses feature coils, they must be flexible enough that you can move easily across all of them. The models with memory foam in the top layer (particularly Helix Sunset, Midnight and Twilight) Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) might make changing positions more difficult due to their slow motion.
