Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You might have noticed that stiffness has already been mentioned in this roundup. That’s because one of the most important aspects to think about when buying for a new mattress is firmness (and how it affects comfort). These elements will reveal the mattress’s suitability for your chosen sleeping place (s). Let’s look at the quality and firmness in the Helix mattress range.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a variety of hardness options, with the softest being moderately soft, and the firmest being fairly firm. Helix Sunset Helix Sunset is on the lower end of the scale We evaluated it with a score that was 5.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. (A 6.5/10 would be the industry standard for medium firmness.) Helix Dusk is next. Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10 that means it’s more soft than the norm. It’s softer than the Helix Midnight as well as the Helix Dusk fall somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Both of these mattresses received a rating of around 7/10, which is a bit heavier than average. Helix Twilight and the Helix Twilight as well as the Helix Dawn are on the firmer side of the spectrum, with each receiving a 7.5/10 assessment (firmer than average).

It is important to remember that the level of hardness is a matter of individual preference. When it comes to firmness, you may evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your body weight and personal preferences. People who are heavier, for instance could find the mattresses more firm because they are able to press further into the mattress and reach into the support layers. Meanwhile, lighter people may discover that these mattresses are more supple due to their position on the comfort level of each bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix mattresses for a long period of time in order to gain an accurate picture of the experience it’s like to sleep on each model in different positions. Check out what we found!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Birch MattressDue to its softness, due to its softness, the Helix Sunset wasn’t sufficient for back sleepers. Our hips were a bit too deep in the bed, which caused the spine to become misaligned.

Although the Helix Sunset’s gentleness isn’t ideal for those who sleep on their backs, it’s ideal for those who prefer to sleep sideways. We were very at ease in this position due to the soft mattress cushioned possible pressure areas around the hip and shoulder. In fact, it’s one of the best mattresses for hip discomfort that we’ve come across.

The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping because it is soft. Our hips were too deep into the mattress and pulled the back out of position, just as they did when we were asleep back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightAs a back sleeper, back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not outstanding. If you’re planning on sleeping in this position all night, you’ll almost certainly require a mattress that offers extra support and aids in maintaining appropriate spinal alignment.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping due to its softness. There was no unwelcome pressure around the hip or shoulder.

The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips sank too deeply in the mattress which caused the spine to shift.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhen we lay down on the Helix Midnight We felt amazing. We felt a little pressure alleviation without sacrificing spinal alignment , thanks to the mattress’s good blend of comfort and support. It’s the best mattress for back sleepers that we have reviewed on this list.

Despite the fact that the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer in comparison to it’s counterparts, the Helix Sunset as well as Moonlight We were able to rest comfortably on our backs on this mattress. It provides adequate pressure alleviation around the shoulder and hip in our opinion.

When we slept with our stomachs on the Helix Midnight, we were good but not great. Sleepers who are in this posture all night long should look for a firmer mattress that provides greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses we’ve tried, which could be the reason we felt so comfortable while lying on our backs. We’re confident that we’ll have good spinal alignment throughout the night thanks to the mattress’s suppleness.

It’s probably not surprising that the Helix Dusk feels a little too soft for sleeping on your side since we’ve shifted to the more firm end in the range. We noticed some pressure on the hip and shoulder area that could cause discomfort if you slept in this position for the entire night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight since it can help to maintain a healthy spinal alignment. However, stomach sleepers with heavier weights might not get enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the ideal bed for back discomfort. It’s the ideal mattress for back sleepers who require additional support owing to increased weight back pain, other factors. The more firm construction of this mattress assists in keeping hips lifted and properly aligned with the spine.

Since it is the case that Helix Twilight is on the firmer side, we found it difficult to sleep on our sides on the mattress. We felt as if we were being suffocated by the shoulders and hips.

For most stomach sleepers, the Helix Twilight to be a good choice, as the mattress’s hardness will offer enough support to the spine for this type of position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who prefer mattresses that are firm will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s high level of support. However, those who like a little pressure alleviation when lying back might find the mattress to be excessively firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping and you’ll be left having a lot of pressure points around your hip and shoulder. A softer model will be considerably better for side sleepers.

The Helix Dawn Mattress is one of the most comfortable mattress for stomach sleepers, in our opinion. In the evening, this firm and supportive mattress will keep your hips up and aligned in alignment with your spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses all have a hybrid structure that has foam layers over coils. Despite these similarities however, each model has its own distinct individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top with a balanced foam feel. The comfort layer’s plushness encourages sleepers to relax and gives the mattress an elongated feel.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy sensation, particularly when compared with the Sunset, which is less sensitive.

The Helix Midnight similar to it’s predecessor, the Helix Sunset, has a smooth, even texture and slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is more firm than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink more deeply in the upper layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and lively. This is due to the use of high-performance foam in the top layer, and coils in the support layer.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, features a slower-moving top. This is still a firm mattress, despite the comfort layer being slightly more cushiony.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a soft, firm and bouncy feel it because to the use of foam that is dynamic (in the comfort layer) and coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

The Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) as well as The Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which offers firmer spinal support).

Sleeping on the Helix Late at Night (if you prefer a more firm feeling) or the soft and more pressure-reducing Helix Moonlight or Sunset is the most likely option for people who are average-weight side sleepers.

Finally, stomach sleepers with a moderate weight should choose the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for those who are heavy-weight back sleepers because it eases tension while ensuring the alignment of the spine.

The most comfortable models within the Helix range, like Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset are likely to provide adequate pressure relief for heavy-weight side sleepers.

Heavyweight stomach sleepers, on the other hand, will most likely go to the Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) for the best spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a wide range of options for light back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all provide plenty of spinal support as well as different levels of pressure relief that can accommodate different styles of sleeping.

Similarly, lightweight side sleepers can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset and should provide adequate pressure relief with the ability to alter the hardness level to their preferences.

Finally stomach sleepers will appreciate that the Helix Twilight, or Dawn for the best supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

As far as construction is concerned, each of all of the Helix mattresses are built in the same way. They share the same cover and the foam comfort layers are layered above individually wrapped the coils to support them.

The majority of Helix mattresses, including, have the SoftTouch Design cover that is elastic, soft, and air-tight. This design allows air to circulate freely throughout the mattress’s top. Additionally, every Helix model is equipped with an additional layer of support made of coils individually wrapped and stacked over a dense base foam which gives the mattress it’s overall design and support.

The similarities stop there for the most part. The cushions’ comfort layers differ in the density, stiffness, placement, and types of foam. There are additional materials available in certain models. Let’s examine it more carefully!.

Helix Sunset

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which offers the slower-moving feel which memory foam has become known for. A layer of transition made up from Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s more firm, bouncier and more bolstering, sits underneath the Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Sunset’s top layer of comfort is comprised from Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s comfort layer and transition layer is made of the Helix Dynamic Foam. This is yet another latex-foam choice with multiple layers of this foam give it a bouncy feel when compared to Helix Sunset. Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the primary comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it helps reduce pressure and body shaping. A layer of transitional high-quality polyfoam is placed beneath it. Memory Plus Foam. This layer is very responsive, which means that the mattress in general responds to pressure more quickly.

Helix Dusk

The main comfort layer is constructed of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s bouncy and responsive. A layer of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think about the Dusk’s structure as being identical to that of that of the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam has been layered over Memory Plus Foam to produce a bouncy, responsive surface, while Memory Plus Foam offers pressure relief as sleepers sink into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

Helix Twilight, like the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above an extremely dense and high-grade polyfoam transition layer. The Memory Plus Foam adds some ease of use, but don’t be deceived by this being a mattress that is firm with very little give.

Helix Dawn

Then, last but not least The Helix Dawn features a Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer, which is sandwiched over a thick, high-quality polyfoam transition layer. This creates a firm, bouncy, and supple sleep surface that has very minimal give.

Motion Transfer

Based on our testing certain models are better than others in keeping out any disturbances that might occur on the mattress’s surface. It was found that the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight have the highest level of motion-seclusion. It’s due there is a slower-moving memory foam at the top of each of these models, which do an excellent job of absorption of motion. These are among the best mattresses for couples available on the market.

Edge Support

Every Helix mattress provided excellent edge support throughout the range. As we sat and fell asleep near the edges of every mattress, we felt secure.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are manufactured with high-density foams and robust coils which ensure that they can endure a long duration.

Off-Gassing

We noticed an off-gassing issue from all six Helix mattresses at first. The issue will be gone within a couple of days or perhaps sooner.

Noise

We didn’t notice any noticeable noise when we moved around on one of these mattresses during the time of our review. But, since all of them have coils, it’s possible that they’ll start to sound squeaky as time passes.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, most people are concerned about how simple it will be to shift places on their bed. Because all of the Helix mattresses have coils, they should be flexible enough to let you move around with ease on any of them. The models that feature memory foam on the top layer (particularly, Helix Sunset, Midnight and Twilight) Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing your position a bit harder due to their slow movement.
