Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

It’s likely that stiffness is already mentioned within this list. That’s because one of the most important aspects to think about when purchasing a new mattress is the firmness (and the way that firmness impacts the comfort). These aspects will reveal the bed’s ability to accommodate your preferred sleeping position (s). Let’s have a review of the firmness and feel of the Helix mattress series.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a variety of hardness options, with the most soft being moderately soft and the firmest being fairly firm. Helix Sunset Helix Sunset is on the softer end of the range; we gave it a hardness rating at 5.5 out of 10 on the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 is the industry standard for moderate firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a 6/10, which means it’s still more soft than the norm. The Helix Midnight as well as the Helix Dusk are between the spectrum. Both mattresses received a rating of around 7/10, which is slightly firmer than normal. They are Helix Twilight, as well as Helix Dawn are at the harder end of the spectrum, with both getting a 7.5/10 assessment (firmer than the average).

It’s important to keep in mind that the level of hardness is a matter of personal preference. If you’re looking for the firmness, you could rate these mattresses differently depending on your body weight and your personal preferences. Heavier persons, for example could find the mattresses firmer since they can press further into the mattress to get to the support layers. However, those who are lighter may discover that these mattresses are less firm due to the fact that they are located higher within the comfortable layer each bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix beds for an long time to get an idea of what it’s like rest on each model in different positions. Have a look at the results!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Alexander Tomorrow MattressDue to its softness, the Helix Sunset didn’t feel nearly supportive enough for back sleeping. The hips of ours sink a little too deeply in the bed, causing the spine to become misaligned.

While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for back sleepers It’s perfect for side sleepers. We were really at ease in this position due to the mattress’s softness helped cushion any pressure areas around the shoulder and hip. In actual fact, it’s one of the best mattresses for hip pain that we’ve come across.

The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping because of its softness. Our hips were too deep into the mattress and pulled the spine out of alignment, just like they did when we were asleep back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhile back sleeping in a back position, back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not exceptional. If you’re planning on sleeping in this position for the entire through the night, you’ll need a more firm mattress that offers extra support and aids in maintaining appropriate spinal alignment.

The Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping sideways due to its softness. There was no unwelcome tension around the shoulder or hip.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips fell too deeply in the mattress which caused the spine to be out of alignment.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhile resting upon the Helix Midnight and feeling fantastic, we were able to feel great. We experienced a bit of pressure relief without sacrificing spinal alignment , thanks to the mattress’s good blend of comfort and support. It’s the best mattress for back sleepers on this list.

Despite the fact that the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer in comparison to the Helix Sunset or Moonlight and Moonlight, we were able to rest comfortably on our backs on this mattress. It is a good pressure-relief mattress between the hip and shoulder according to our experience.

As we lay on our stomachs in the Helix Midnight, we felt good but not great. People who sleep in this posture all night should look for a firmer mattress that provides greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than other models that we’ve tested. This could explain why we felt comfortable while lying in our backs. We’re confident that we’ll have proper spinal alignment all night because of the mattress’s supportive nature.

It’s probably not surprising that the Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for side sleeping since we’ve shifted to the firmer side on the scale. We noticed some pressure on the hip and shoulder area that could create a lot of discomfort if you sleep in this position for a long time.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers of average weight because it will help them maintain appropriate spine alignment. However, stomach sleepers with heavier weights might not get enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the ideal bed for back discomfort. It’s the ideal mattress for back sleepers who require more support due to increased weight or back pain, as well as other causes. The more firm construction of this mattress assists in keeping hips lifted and in alignment in alignment with spine.

Because the Helix Twilight is on the firmer side, we found it difficult to lie on our backs on this mattress. We felt suffocated in the hips and shoulders.

Most stomach sleepers should find the Helix Twilight mattress to be a good fit, since the mattress’ hardness should provide enough of spinal support in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who like a firm mattress will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. But, those who want some pressure relief while lying on their backs might find the mattress too firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping and you’ll be left with a lot of pressure points on your shoulder and hip. The Helix Dawn that is soft is much better for sleepers who prefer side sleeping.

It is the Helix Dawn is the greatest mattress for stomach sleepers in our view. Throughout the night the firm and supportive mattress keeps the hips raised and aligned to the spinal column.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses have a hybrid design that incorporates foam over coils. Despite these commonalities every model has its own distinctive individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a balanced foam feel. The comfort layer’s plushness encourages sleepers to relax and gives the mattress a slow-moving feel.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, gives a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared with the Sunset that is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight similar to it’s predecessor, the Helix Sunset, offers an even feel and smooth top layer that moves slowly. The Midnight is more firm than the Sunset which allows sleepers to sink more deeply into the top layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and lively. This is due to the use of active foam on the upper layer and coils in the layer supporting it.

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. This is still a firm mattress with the comfort layer being a little more enveloping.

The Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a firm, bouncy feel to it because of the use of foam that is dynamic (in the layer of comfort) as well as coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

The Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure reduction) as well as the Helix Dusk are likely to be the preferred choice for back sleepers (which offers firmer spinal support).

Sleeping on the Helix Midnight (if want a more firm feeling) or the softer and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight or Sunset is the most likely option for people who are average-weight side sleepers.

Finally, stomach sleepers of moderate weight should prefer the supportive Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for those who are heavy-weight back sleepers, as it relieves pressure while maintaining spinal alignment.

The most comfortable models within the Helix range, like Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset, should provide sufficient of pressure relief for heavy-weight side sleepers.

Heavyweight stomach sleepers, on the other hand tend to go to Helix Dawn. Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) for proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There ought to be a range of models for light back sleepers: The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all offer plenty of spinal support and different levels of pressure relief that can accommodate various sleeping styles.

Similarly, lightweight side sleepers can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset and should offer adequate pressure relief, while allowing users to customize the level of hardness to suit their requirements.

Finally, stomach sleepers will find that the Helix Twilight or Dawn as the most comfortable.

Helix Mattresses Construction

As far as construction is concerned, each Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way. Helix mattresses are constructed the same manner: They share the same cover, and the same foam comfort layers are layered above individual wrapped the coils to support them.

The majority of Helix mattresses, in particular the newest models, come with A SoftTouch Design cover that is flexible, soft and air-tight. This design allows air to circulate freely throughout the mattress’s top. Meanwhile, each Helix model comes with an extra layer of support that is made of coils individually wrapped and stacked over a high-density base foam which provides the mattress with the overall shape and support.

The similarities are not the only part. The foam layers that provide comfort differ in the size, stiffness, layout, and types of foam. Other materials are available in certain models. Let’s take a take a closer look!.

Helix Sunset

Its cushion of comfort is comprised of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which gives you the slow-moving feeling that memory foam is known for. A layer of transition made up comprised of Helix Dynamic foam, a foam made of latex that’s more firm, bouncier and more bolstering, sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made out of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s main comfort layer and the transition layer is made of the Helix Dynamic Foam. This is yet another latex-foam choice with multiple layers of this foam give it a bouncy feel when compared to the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the main comfort layer in the Helix Midnight, and it offers pressure reduction as well as body shaping. A transition layer of dense, high-grade polyfoam sits under it. Memory Plus Foam. This layer is quite flexible, meaning that the mattress overall responds more quickly to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The Helix Dusk’s primary comfort layer is constructed out of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s bouncy and responsive. The layer is made comprised of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think of Dusk’s design as similar to that from the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam has been layered on top of Memory Plus Foam to create a bouncy and responsive surface. Memory Plus Foam helps relieve pressure when sleepers lie down on the mattress.

Helix Twilight

It’s the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above the dense, high-quality polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. This Memory Plus Foam adds some convenience, but don’t get deceived by this being an extremely firm mattress that has very little give.

Helix Dawn

Then, last but not least last but not least, the Helix Dawn has a Helix dynamic foam comfort layer, which is sandwiched over a thick, high-quality polyfoam transition layer. This creates an extremely firm, bouncey, and comfortable sleep surface with very minimal give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We tested our Helix mattresses through a set of tests to find out the performance of these mattresses in key areas like temperature control and edge support, motion transfer and much more. Continue reading to find out what they did!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Do you feel hot or cold when sleeping? If you’re worried about your mattress being too hot, you might want to consider buying a LUXE model of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

Based on our testing certain models are better than others in keeping out any disturbances that might occur on the surface of the mattress. The Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight provided the best motion-seclusion. It’s due they have a memory foam that is slower moving at the top of each of these models, it does an excellent job of absorption of motion. These are some of the most comfortable mattresses for couples on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress offered good edge support throughout the range. While sitting and sleeping on the edges of each model, we felt safe.

Durability

All of the Helix mattresses are made from strong coils and high-density foams to ensure they’ll last for a long period of duration.

Off-Gassing

We did notice some off-gassing from the six Helix mattresses initially. It will disappear in a few days, if not sooner.

Noise

We didn’t hear any distinct noise while moving about on any of these mattresses at the time of our test. Since all of them have coils, it’s likely that they’ll begin to make noise as time passes.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, most individuals are concerned about how easy it will be to move positions on the mattress. Since all Helix mattresses feature coils, they are flexible enough to let you move around easily on any of them. The models that have memory foam on the upper layer (particularly, those that have memory foam in the top layer (such as Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) may make changing positions a little more difficult due to their slow movement.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial of sleep and 10 years of mattress warranty are included with every Helix mattress.
