First impressions

Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel
Purple Hybrid beds are soft, airy and don’t feel like foam no matter what model they come in. If you press your finger on the center of the mattress, the squishy pieces will bend and change underneath.
It isn’t noticeable when you lie down. Instead, you feel buoyant and like you are floating on your back or in a hammock. The thick layer of pocketsed coils underneath makes it very supportive.
The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels pressure-relieving and supportive, while maintaining a slightly firmer profile; I think it’s around a medium-firm, or 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. Although the soft squares won’t press into your hips or shoulders when you lie on your back, my spine and back feel reinforced by the Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer. I find it a little firmer than my Original Purple mattress.

The Purple Hybrid comes in three different models, each with a different thickness of the Purple Grid gel layer.
The Purple Hybrid has 4 layers and measures around 11 inches high. Below is a breakdown of each layer of the Purple Hybrid bed. This will give you an idea about what makes Purple and Purple.
A thin slab of basic Foam about an inch in thickness, which supports the thick pocketed coil above.
The mattress has a thick system made of 7.5-inch pockets coils. Each coil is individually wrapped in fabric to reduce motion transfer. It’s what makes this mattress so supportive.
A thin half an inch of foam to help neutralize the feel of the pocketed coils in the bed’s foundation.
The Hyper-Elastic polymer of the brand is 2 inches thick. It’s laid out in a grid structure. This is the main layer which distinguishes it the Purple Hybrid mattresses. Every mattress has a different thickness. It provides most of Purple’s comfort.
Surrounding the edges are dense foam slabs to make the sides feel more supportive and sturdy.

The Purple Hybrid Premier mattress is the highest-rated option from the brand. The top layers are what really make the difference in construction.
Purple 3 has a layer 3 in. of Hyper-Elastic Polymer at top; Purple 4 has 4 in.

Motion isolation
Motion isolation isn’t usually an innerspring bed’s forte, but with the pocketed coils and special material you find in the Purple Hybrid, it’s a different story.
