Purple Hybrid mattresses have the same Purple feel, but with a more sturdy and supportive construction. Does The Purple Mattress Need A Boxspring
The Purple Hybrid mattress is made by the same company that created Hyper-Elastic Polymer, the original Purple bed and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 and 4. Purple actually has three types of hybrid beds. They are appropriately named the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 or 4 and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 or 4. Below I will explain why you might prefer one to the other and how they compare with the rest. Stick around to find out if a Purple Hybrid mattress is the right choice for you.
Purple Hybrid , also known as the Purple 2, is the thinnest of the hybrid options and stands at 11 inches thick. It’s also firmer than the other two models and is ideal for back or stomach sleepers. It’s also the most affordable Purple Hybrid Mattress.
The Purple Hybrid Premier is 12 inches thick and has a thicker Hyper Elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes it feel a bit softer and lands around a medium to medium-firm on the scale. Does The Purple Mattress Need A Boxspring
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid bed is the most costly, but it is thicker than all Purple hybrid beds and provides extra support. It has a medium-firm profile and would be suitable for all body types, just like the Purple Hybrid Premier 3.

First impressions
Purple Hybrids include purple details throughout the bed. This is a wonderful addition for anyone who loves the color. It’s more luxurious than the Purple Hybrid mattress, thanks to the premium cover. The main thing people want to know about this mattress is what does the Purple feel like?
It’s quite different than the innerspring mattress in Grandma’s guest room, and I will tell you that. This is a novel concept for a bed, and I believe it worked in the company’s favor. Does The Purple Mattress Need A Boxspring
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness & Feel
No matter which model you choose, Purple Hybrid mattresses feel soft and airy but not like foam. The purple squares can be felt under your fingertips if you move your hand along the mattress’s center.
It isn’t noticeable when you lie down. Instead, you feel buoyant and like you are floating on your back or in a hammock. It’s very supportive due to the thick layer pocketed coils. I’ll explain this further below.
Purple Hybrid 2 feels simultaneously supportive and pressure-relieving. However, it has a slightly firmer profile. The soft squares don’t push into your hips and shoulders when you’re on your side like your typical firm bed, but my back and spine feel very reinforced above the bed’s Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer. It’s firmer than the Original Purple mattress.
If you’re interested in the Purple Hybrid but don’t have the time or desire to explore other types of bedding, it might be worth looking elsewhere. The Purple Hybrid might be for you if it offers a mattress feel that is both supportive and light on the hips, shoulders and back. Does The Purple Mattress Need A Boxspring
Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two top-level hybrid beds share the same Purple feel but have a slightly softer profile due to their thicker Hyper-Elastic polymer layers.
I believe they are both medium-firms, or approximately a 6, on the firmness scale. Does The Purple Mattress Need A Boxspring
Purple Hybrid Mattress Construction
Purple Hybrid comes as three different models. Each model has a different thickness Purple Grid gel layer.
The Purple Hybrid’s four layers are approximately 11 inches in height and has four layers. Let’s take a look at the layers of this bed to get an idea of how Purple and Purple are made.
A thin layer of basic foam, about one-inch thick, that supports the thick pocketed coil layers above.
The mattress is made up of thick pockets of coils measuring 7.5 inches in diameter, each wrapped in fabric to limit movement transfer. This is the reason this mattress is so supportive.
A thin half an inch of foam to help neutralize the feel of the pocketed coils in the bed’s foundation.
The Hyper-Elastic polymer of the brand is 2 inches thick. It’s laid out in a grid structure. This is the main layer which distinguishes it the Purple Hybrid mattresses. Every mattress has a different thickness. It’s bouncy, squishy, soft and provides most of the Purple’s comfort.
Surrounding the edges are dense foam slabs to make the sides feel more supportive and sturdy.
Purple’s StretchMax Cover is on the top. It’s very stretchy, just as its name suggests. It feels more breathable and breathable then a standard mattress cover. Does The Purple Mattress Need A Boxspring

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
The brand’s top-tier mattresses are the Purple Hybrid Premier and Purple Hybrid Premier. Only the top layers make up the main difference in construction.
Purple 3 has 3inches of Hyper Elastic Polymer at the top. Purple 4 has 4inches.
Although they feel the same, it does not make a big difference in their feel. Does The Purple Mattress Need A Boxspring
Motion isolation
Motion isolation is not a common feature of innerspring beds, but the Purple Hybrid offers a different approach with its pocketed coils.
It seems to be quite capable of isolating motion, even though it is very bouncy.
It virtually makes no noise, and you’ll hardly be able to notice your partner moving around on the other side. Does The Purple Mattress Need A Boxspring
Edge support
Purple Hybrid mattress are made with firm foam around edges to keep your body upright if you find yourself slipping towards the side of bed at night.
This is why I give the edge support capabilities of this mattress two thumbs up.
Temperature
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid has a natural breathable structure that allows for airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat the way memory foam or polyfoam might. This makes it appealing to hot sleeping people like me who want additional cooling. It’s not cold to the touch, but I really don’t feel hot while sleeping on the Purple. Does The Purple Mattress Need A Boxspring
