Purple Hybrid mattresses have the same Purple feel, but with a more sturdy and supportive construction. Does Purple Mattress Need Special Sheets
Purple Hybrid Mattresses are made by the same company as Hyper-Elastic Polyester and the original Purple Bed. Purple offers three varieties of hybrid beds. These are appropriately named Purple Hybrid Premier 3 to Purple Hybrid Premier 4. Below, I will explore the various reasons you may choose one over the others and whether the cost is worth it. Keep reading to discover if the Purple Hybrid mattress is right for YOU.
Purple Hybrid (also known as the Purple 2) is the thinnest option of hybrids and measures only 11 inches thick. It is also more firm than the other models, making it ideal for stomach or back sleepers. It is also the most affordable Purple Hybrid model.
The Purple Hybrid Premier (formerly Purple 3) is 12 inches in thickness with a thicker Hyper elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes it feel a bit softer and lands around a medium to medium-firm on the scale. Does Purple Mattress Need Special Sheets
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid Hybrid beds are the most expensive. However, it’s 13 inches thick and extra supportive. Like the Purple Hybrid Premier 3, it has a medium to medium-firm profile, and we think it would suit all body types.

First impressions
Purple Hybrid beds have purple details, which is great for those who love the color. The cover has premium details that give it a more luxurious look than the Purple flagship mattress. What does the Purple feel like?
It’s totally different from the innerspring mattress in Grandma’s guest room. This bed is an entirely new concept that I believe worked well for the company. Does Purple Mattress Need Special Sheets
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel
Purple Hybrid beds are soft, airy and don’t feel like foam no matter what model they come in. The purple squares can be felt under your fingertips if you move your hand along the mattress’s center.
It isn’t noticeable when you lie down. Instead, you feel buoyant and like you are floating on your back or in a hammock. It’s very supportive due to the thick layer pocketed coils. I’ll explain this further below.
The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels supportive and pressure-relieving, but it also has a slightly firmer profile. It’s 7/10 on the firmness scale. The soft squares don’t push into your hips and shoulders when you’re on your side like your typical firm bed, but my back and spine feel very reinforced above the bed’s Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer. I think it’s a tad bit firmer than the Original Purple mattress.
If you’re curious about the Purple Hybrid but you aren’t willing to explore unconventional ways of bedding, you might want to look elsewhere. It might appeal to you if the mattress feels like it is releasing pressure from your hips, shoulders, back and making you feel lighter. Does Purple Mattress Need Special Sheets
Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two top-level hybrid beds share the same Purple feel but have a slightly softer profile due to their thicker Hyper-Elastic polymer layers.
They both fall between medium to medium-firm or about a 6 on my firmness scale. Does Purple Mattress Need Special Sheets
Purple Hybrid Mattress Construction
There are three types of Purple Hybrids, each with a different Purple Grid gel layer thickness.
The Purple Hybrid has 4 layers and measures around 11 inches high. Let’s take a look at the layers of this bed to get an idea of how Purple and Purple are made.
A thin slab about an inch thick of basic foam that supports the thick pocketed coil layer.
The mattress has a thick system made of 7.5-inch pockets coils. Each coil is individually wrapped in fabric to reduce motion transfer. It is what makes this mattress so comfortable.
A thin layer of foam about a quarter inch thick to neutralize the effect of the mattress’s foundation.
2 inches of Hyper-Elastic Pomer from the brand, laid out in grid formation. This is the layer that makes it different from the Purple Hybrids. Each mattress has an individual thickness. It provides most of Purple’s comfort.
To give the sides more support and stability, dense foam slabs are placed around the edges.
The Purple’s StretchMax cover is atop, and it is, as the name suggests, extra-stretchy. It’s more breathable than any standard mattress cover. You can compare the feel to a soft cotton top or an athletic antisweat shirt. Does Purple Mattress Need Special Sheets

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
Purple Hybrid Premier is the brand’s highest-end mattress option. Really, the only major differences in construction are the top layers.
Purple 3 has a layer of Hyper elastic Polymer at its top that measures 3 inches, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.
The Purple Hybrid is softer than these, although they don’t feel any different. Does Purple Mattress Need Special Sheets
Motion isolation
Motion isolation is not a common feature of innerspring beds, but the Purple Hybrid offers a different approach with its pocketed coils.
I think it’s pretty good at isolating motion, even if it is a super-bouncy bed.
It virtually makes no noise, and you’ll hardly be able to notice your partner moving around on the other side. Does Purple Mattress Need Special Sheets
Edge support
Purple Hybrid mattresses have firm foam at the edges that will hold you up if your body tends to lean towards the sides of the bed.
Therefore, I give this mattress my enthusiastic thumbs-up for its edge support capabilities.
Temperature
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid does not have any fancy cooling materials. Its natural, breathable design means that it is one of the best mattresses available for allowing airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat like memory or poly foam, which makes it more appealing for hot sleepers like myself who need additional cooling. It’s not cold to the touch, but I really don’t feel hot while sleeping on the Purple. Does Purple Mattress Need Special Sheets
Purple Hybrid’s best sleeping positions and body types
You wouldn’t expect every size shirt to fit at your local clothing store.
This is especially true since there are so numerous options. The best mattress for you will depend on your body type and the position that you prefer to sleep in. Does Purple Mattress Need Special Sheets
Position
The main sleeping positions are stomach, back, or side. Purple Hybrid is recommended for stomach and back sleepers.
If you are a side sleeper, the Purple Hybrid mattress would be a good choice. They are a little more soft and pressure-relieving that the standard hybrid model, which will make them more beneficial for your sides and shoulders. Does Purple Mattress Need Special Sheets
Body type
Regardless of your body type, whether you weigh 105 pounds or 250 pounds, I think the Purple Hybrid beds will be perfectly suitable for you.
The Purple Hybrid mattresses are great for all body types because they are more supportive than typical foam beds like Nectar or Casper. The bottom layer is made of steel coils with pockets. Steel is more durable than foam. Over the next 10 years, you will see a significant difference in how this mattress holds up to time compared with an all-foam mattress. Price
The Purple Hybrid costs more than the original Purple. It isn’t the best option for people trying to save as much money as possible when buying a new bed. If you’re looking for a way to improve your night’s rest, however, you might consider it a reasonable price.
The standard Purple Hybrid mattress is available in sizes from twin XL to California king. Prices start at $1299 and go up until $1,899. Although they don’t often offer discounts on this bed, they might have a promotion that includes free sheets and pillows.
The Purple Hybrid mattress has metal coils encased in foam to offer support and softness.
