Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

It’s likely that stiffness has already been mentioned throughout this article. That’s because one of the most important factors to take into consideration when buying for a new mattress is firmness (and how it affects the comfort). These factors will tell you the mattress’s suitableness for your sleeping place (s). Let’s take a closer review of the comfort and firmness in the Helix mattress series.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a variety of hardness options, with the most soft being moderately soft, and the most firm ones being moderately firm. Helix Sunset Helix Sunset is on the soft side of the spectrum; we have given it a rating of 5.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. (A 6.5/10 would be the standard industry norm for medium firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a 6/10, which means it’s still softer than normal. It’s softer than the Helix Midnight as well as the Helix Dusk fall somewhere between the spectrum. Both of these mattresses have a score of 7/10, which is a bit heavier than average. Helix Twilight and the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn are on the harder end of the spectrum with both receiving the 7.5/10 score (firmer than average).

It’s crucial to be aware that the level of hardness is a matter of personal preference. In terms of firmness, you may assess these mattresses differently based on your body weight and personal preferences. Heavier persons, for example, may find these mattresses more firm as they can push deeper into the mattress and get to the support layers. On the other hand, people who weigh less find that these mattresses are more supple due to their position on the comfort level of every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix beds for an long time to get a clear picture of the experience it’s like to sleep on each model in various positions. Have a look at the results!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Does Mattress Firm Sell Helix MattressesBecause of its softness, the Helix Sunset was not comfortable enough to be a good back sleeper. Our hips sank a little too far into the mattress, causing the spine to become misaligned.

While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for those who sleep on their backs It’s perfect for those who prefer to sleep sideways. We were very comfortable in this position because the soft mattress cushioned possible pressure areas around the shoulder and hip. In fact, it’s one of the best mattresses for hip pain we’ve seen.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach-sleeping due it is soft. Our hips sank too deeply into the mattress and pulled the spinal column out of its alignment, just like they did when we were back sleeping.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightAs a back sleeper while sleeping, it was apparent that the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you’re planning to sleep in this position for the duration of the through the night, you’ll require a mattress that offers additional support and helps maintain an appropriate spine alignment.

The Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping sideways due to its softness. There was no unwelcome tension around the shoulder or hip.

The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips were pushed too far in the mattress which caused the spine to misalign.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhen we lay down upon the Helix Midnight and feeling fantastic, we were able to feel great. We enjoyed a touch of pressure alleviation without sacrificing spine alignment due to the mattress’s good blend of comfort and support. It’s the best mattress for back sleepers on this list.

Although the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer than Helix Sunset and Moonlight, it is still a good mattress. Helix Sunset and Moonlight and Moonlight, we were able to rest comfortably on our backs on the mattress. It provides adequate pressure alleviation around the shoulder and hip, in our opinion.

As we lay on our stomachs in the Helix Midnight, we were good but not great. Sleepers who are in this way all night long should look for an extra firm mattress that offers greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses we’ve tested, which may explain why we felt so good while resting upon our backs. We’re sure that we’ll be able to maintain an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night due to the mattress’s suppleness.

It’s probably not surprising to find that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for a side sleeper considering that we’ve moved to the more firm end in the range. We noticed some pressure on the hip and shoulder, which would definitely cause significant discomfort if you were to sleep in this position for a long time.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight since it can help them maintain appropriate spinal alignment. However, stomach sleepers with heavier weights may not receive enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the ideal bed for back discomfort. It’s the ideal mattress for back sleepers who require additional support owing to weight gain back pain, other causes. The firmer construction of this mattress assists in keeping hips lifted and aligned with the spine.

Because it is the case that Helix Twilight is more firm than the average mattress, we found it difficult to lie on our backs on this mattress. We felt as if we were being suffocated by the hips and shoulders.

For most stomach sleepers, the Helix Twilight to be a good choice, as the mattress’s firmness should provide enough of spinal support in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who like mattresses that are firm will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. However, those who prefer an occasional relief from pressure while lying on their backs might find the mattress to be excessively firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping and you’ll end up with a lot of pressure points in your shoulder and hip. The Helix Dawn that is soft will be considerably better for sleepers who prefer side sleeping.

The Helix Dawn mattress is considered to be the greatest mattress designed for stomach sleepers, in our view. Through the night this supportive and firm mattress helps keep the hips elevated and aligned in alignment with your spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses all have a hybrid structure that has foam layers over coils. However, despite these similarities however, each model has its own distinct character.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top with a balanced foam feel. The plush comfort layer encourages sleepers to relax and gives the mattress a slow-moving feel.

It is worth noting that the Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, offers a lively feeling, particularly when compared with the Sunset that is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight similar to Helix Sunset, like Helix Sunset, has a balanced feel and a slow-moving top layer. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink further in the upper layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and lively. This is due to the use of high-performance foam in the top layer as well as coils in the supporting layer.

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, is characterized by a slower-moving top. It’s still a solid mattress, even though the comfort layer is slightly more comfortable.

The Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a soft, firm and bouncy feel it because of the use of dynamic foam (in the comfort layer) and coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

The Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) and the Helix Dusk are likely to be the preferred choice for back sleepers (which offers firmer spinal support).

The Helix Midnight (if you prefer a slightly harder sensation) or the softer and more pressure-reducing Helix Moonlight (or Sunset) is most probable for side sleepers of average weight.

The stomach sleepers who are of moderate weight should consider the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for those who are heavy-weight back sleepers, as it relieves pressure and maintains spinal alignment.

The most comfortable models within the Helix range, such as Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset are likely to provide adequate pressure relief for heavy-weight side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are heavy, on the other hand, will most likely go to the Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) for the best spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a variety of options for light back sleepers: The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all have lots of spinal support and different degrees of pressure relief that can accommodate different sleeping styles.

Similar to the side sleepers that are lightweight, you can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset that should all offer adequate pressure relief, and allow users to adjust the level of hardness to suit their needs.

Finally, stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight and Dawn as the most supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

In terms of construction, all of Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way. Helix mattresses are constructed the same manner: They all have the same cover, and the same foam comfort layers are layered above individually wrapped supports for coils.

All Helix mattresses, including, have a SoftTouch Design cover that is flexible, soft and breathable. This allows air to circulate freely throughout the top of the mattress. Meanwhile, each Helix model is equipped with an additional layer of support made of individually wrapped coils stacked over a dense base foam which provides the mattress with it’s overall design and strength.

The similarities end there for the most part. The cushions’ comfort layers differ in the size, stiffness, layout and kinds of foam. Additional materials are also available on some versions. Let’s examine it more carefully!.

Helix Sunset

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which offers the slower-moving feel of memory foam that it is known for. A transition layer composed of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s firmer, bouncier, and more supportive, is placed beneath that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

The Helix Sunset’s top comfort layer is comprised from Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s comfort layer and the transition layer are made of Helix Dynamic Foam. It is a different latex-foam alternative with multiple layers of this foam gives it a buoyant feel when compared with the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the principal comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it provides pressure reduction and body shaping. A transition layer of thick, high-grade polyfoam sits beneath it. Memory Plus Foam. This layer is very responsive, implying that the mattress overall responds more quickly to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The Helix Dusk’s primary comfort layer is made up out of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s soft and responsive. It’s a layer of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think about the Dusk’s structure as being identical to that of Helix Sunset’s construction. Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam has been layered over Memory Plus Foam to produce a bouncy, responsive surface, while Memory Plus Foam offers pressure relief as sleepers sink into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

It’s the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above an extremely dense and high-grade polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. The Memory Plus Foam adds some comfort, but don’t be fooled: this is an extremely firm mattress that has very less give.

Helix Dawn

Then, last but not least, the Helix Dawn has a Helix Comfort Layer made of Dynamic Foam that is layered over a thick, high-quality polyfoam layer transition layer. This combination produces a firm, bouncy, and responsive sleep surface with very minimal give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We tested our Helix mattresses through a set of tests to find out how well they performed in key areas such as temperature control and edge support, motion transfer and much many more. Keep reading to find out the results!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Do you feel hot or cold when sleeping? If you’re concerned about overheating, consider purchasing a LUXE model of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

According to our tests, some models outperform others when it comes to minimising disturbances to your mattress’s top. For instance, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight have the highest level of motion isolation. It’s due there is a slower-moving memory foam close to the top of all of these models, which do well at absorption of motion. These are the top mattresses for couples available on the market.

Edge Support

Every Helix mattress had an excellent edge support across all models. While sitting and sleeping on the edges of each mattress, we felt secure.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are constructed with high-density foams as well as sturdy coils to ensure they’ll endure a long time.

Off-Gassing

There was some off-gassing from all six Helix mattresses at first. This will go away in a few days, if not sooner.

Noise

We didn’t hear any distinct noise while moving about on any of these mattresses at the time we wrote our test. But, since all of these mattresses have coils, it’s possible that they’ll start to sound squeaky over time.

Sex

If you are looking for a sexual mattress, a majority of people are concerned about how simple it will be to move positions on the mattress. Since all Helix mattresses feature coils, they must be flexible enough to let you move around easily on any of them. The models that feature memory foam on the upper layer (particularly, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) might make changing positions more difficult because of their slow motion.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial of sleep and a 10-year mattress guarantee are provided in each Helix mattress.
