Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

It’s likely that stiffness is already mentioned within this list. This is because one of the most crucial elements to consider when buying for a new mattress is the firmness (and how firmness affects comfort). These factors will tell you the bed’s suitableness for your sleep position (s). Let’s take a closer review of the quality and firmness in the Helix mattress series.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a range of different hardness options, with the softest being moderately soft and the most firm being quite firm. Helix Sunset Helix Sunset is on the soft side of the spectrum and we have given it a rating of 5.5 out of 10 in the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 is considered to be an standard industry norm for moderate firmness.) Helix Dusk is next. Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a 6/10 that means it’s softer than normal. The Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk fall somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Both of these mattresses received a rating of around 7/10, which is a bit more firm than the average. Helix Twilight and the Helix Twilight as well as the Helix Dawn are on the more difficult side of the spectrum, with each receiving an 7.5/10 score (firmer than average).

It is important to keep in mind that the degree of firmness is a personal preference. In terms of the firmness of the mattress, you can assess these mattresses differently based on your weight and preferences. For instance, heavier people, may find these mattresses more firm because they are able to press further into the mattress and reach into the support layers. Meanwhile, lighter people may discover that these mattresses are more supple due to their position in the comfort layer of every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix beds for an lengthy period of time in order to gain an idea of the experience it’s like to sleep on each model in different positions. Have a look at what we found!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Consumer Reports Helix MattressBecause of its softness, due to its softness, the Helix Sunset wasn’t sufficient for back sleepers. The hips of ours sink a little too deep down into our mattress which caused the spine to shift.

The Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for those who sleep on their backs, it’s ideal for those who sleep on their sides. We were very at ease in this position due to the mattress’s softness helped cushion any pressure areas around the shoulder and hip. It’s actually one of the greatest mattresses for hip discomfort that we’ve come across.

The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping because of its softness. Our hips fell too far into the mattress, pulling the spinal column out of its alignment just the way they did when were back sleeping.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightAs a back sleeper, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not outstanding. If you plan on sleeping in this position for the duration of the through the night, you’ll want a firmer mattress that offers additional support and helps maintain appropriate spinal alignment.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping on the side due to its softness. There was no unwelcome tension around the shoulder or hip.

The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips were pushed too far into the mattress, leading the spine to misalign.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureAs we slept in the Helix Midnight, we felt fantastic. We felt a little pressure relief, but without losing spine alignment due to the mattress’s good combination of support and comfort. It’s the most comfortable mattress for those who sleep on their backs on this list.

Despite the fact that the Helix Midnight is more firm in comparison to the Helix Sunset or Moonlight and Moonlight, we found it pleasant to sleep on our sides on the mattress. It provides adequate pressure alleviation around the shoulder and hip, in our opinion.

While stomach sleeping on the Helix Midnight, we were good , but not fantastic. Sleepers who are in this position all night should look for an extra firm mattress that offers greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than the other models we’ve tried, which could be the reason we felt so comfortable while lying on our backs. We’re certain that we’ll enjoy proper spinal alignment all night because of the mattress’s supportive qualities.

It’s likely not a surprise to find that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for side sleeping since we’ve shifted to the more firm end in the range. We noticed some pressure on the hip and shoulder that would cause significant discomfort if you sleep in this position for the entire night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight because it will help in maintaining a proper spine alignment. However, stomach sleepers with heavier weights may not receive sufficient support.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the ideal bed for back pain. It’s the ideal mattress for back sleepers who require more support due to increased weight or back pain, as well as other causes. The firmer structure of this mattress helps in keeping the hips lifted and aligned to the spinal column.

Since the Helix Twilight is slightly firmer than other mattresses It was difficult to sleep on our sides on the mattress. We felt suffocated in the hips and shoulders.

Most stomach sleepers should find the Helix Twilight to be a great choice, as the mattress’ hardness should provide enough of spinal support in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who prefer mattresses that are firm will appreciate the high degree of support. However, those who prefer a little pressure alleviation while lying on their backs could find this mattress too firm.

It’s the Helix Dawn is far too difficult to sleep on side and you’ll end up having a lot of pressure points in your hip and shoulder. A softer model will be considerably better for sleepers who prefer side sleeping.

It is the Helix Dawn Mattress is one of the best mattress designed for stomach sleepers, in our opinion. Throughout the night this supportive and firm mattress keeps the hips raised and in alignment to the spinal column.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses all have a hybrid design that incorporates foam over coils. Despite these similarities however, each model has its own distinctive individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a balanced foam feel. The comfort layer’s plushness encourages sleepers to sink in and creates an elongated feel.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared with the Sunset that is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight similar to the Helix Sunset, has a balanced feel and a smooth top layer that moves slowly. The Midnight is more firm than the Sunset which allows sleepers to sink more deeply into the top layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is due to the use active foam in the top layer, and coils in the supporting layer.

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, features a slower-moving top. It’s still a sturdy mattress despite the comfort layer being a little more enveloping.

The Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a bouncy, firm feel to it because to the use of foam that is dynamic (in the comfort layer) as well as coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

Helix Midnight (which is a combination of pressure reduction and spinal support) or the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure reduction) as well as The Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by back sleepers (which offers firmer spinal support).

For stomach sleepers, those of moderate weight should consider the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for back sleepers who weigh a lot, as it relieves tension while ensuring spinal alignment.

The softest models in the Helix range, like the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset are likely to provide adequate pressure relief for heavy-weight side sleepers.

For stomach sleepers with heavy weights however tend to go towards Helix Dawn. Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) for proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There ought to be a range of models for light back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all have lots of spinal support and different levels of pressure relief to suit different sleeping styles.

In the same way, side sleepers who are light can select from Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset, which should all provide adequate pressure relief with the ability to alter the level of hardness according to their requirements.

Finally stomach sleepers will discover that the Helix Twilight or Dawn as the most supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

Regarding construction and construction methods, the majority of the Helix mattresses are constructed the same manner: They have the same cover, and the same foam comfort layers are laid over individual wrapped coil support layers.

All Helix mattresses, in particular they have A SoftTouch Design cover that is elastic, soft, and breathable. The design lets air flow freely across the top of the mattress. Additionally, every Helix model comes with an additional layer of support made of individually wrapped coils that are stacked over a dense base foam which provides the mattress with it’s overall design and strength.

The similarities are not the only part. The cushions’ comfort layers differ in their thickness, stiffness, arrangement and the types of foam. There are additional materials available on some versions. Let’s take a examine it more carefully!.

Helix Sunset

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made up of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which offers the slower-moving feel that memory foam is famous for. A transition layer composed of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s a bit larger, more bouncier, and more supporting, sits under that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made out of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s primary comfort layer and transition layer are made from Helix’s Dynamic Foam. This is yet another latex-foam choice with multiple layers of this foam gives it a buoyant feeling when compared to the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the primary comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it provides pressure reduction and body shaping. A transition layer of dense, high-grade polyfoam sits underneath it. Memory Plus Foam. The layer is extremely flexible, meaning that the mattress as a whole responds more quickly to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The Dusk’s main comfort layer is made up of Helix Dynamic Foam, a foam substitute made of latex that is bouncy and responsive. It’s a layer comprised of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think about the Dusk’s structure as similar to that in Helix Sunset’s construction. Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam is laid on top of Memory Plus Foam to produce a bouncy and responsive surface. Memory Plus Foam offers pressure relief when sleepers lie down on the mattress.

Helix Twilight

It’s the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above a dense, high-grade polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. The Memory Plus Foam adds some convenience, but don’t get taken in by the appearance: this is a mattress that is firm with very little give.

Helix Dawn

Then, last but not least The Helix Dawn features the Helix Comfort Layer made of Dynamic Foam, which is sandwiched over a high-quality, dense polyfoam layer transition layer. The result is a soft, bouncy and responsive sleep surface with very little bounce.

Helix Mattresses Performance

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Are you sleeping hot or cold? If you’re worried about overheating, consider purchasing a LUXE version of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

According to our tests certain models are better than other models when it comes to keeping out any disturbances that might occur on your mattress’s top. The Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight have the highest level of motion isolation. This is due there is a slower-moving memory foam near the top of each of these models, which does well at blocking motion. These are some of the best mattresses for couples available on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress provided good edge support across all models. While sitting and sleeping at the edge of each model, we felt safe.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are constructed with strong coils and high-density foams to ensure they’ll last for a long period of period of.

Off-Gassing

There was an off-gassing issue from all six Helix mattresses at first. The issue will be gone in a few days, in the event that it is not earlier.

Noise

We didn’t hear any distinct sound when moving around on any of these mattresses during the time we wrote our review. But, since each mattress has coils, it’s probable that they’ll start to sound squeaky with time.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, most individuals are worried about how easy it is to change positions on the bed. Because all of the Helix mattresses feature coils, they are sufficient to allow you to move around with ease on any of them. The models with memory foam in the top layer (particularly Helix Sunset, Midnight and Twilight) Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing positions a little harder due to their slow motion.
