Compare Purple Mattress – Our Purple Mattress Hybrid Review 2021

The Purple Hybrid mattress delivers the same signature Purple feel, but with a more durable and supportive construction. Compare Purple Mattress

From the company that gave you Hyper-Elastic Polymer and the original Purple bed comes the big-and-sturdy Purple Hybrid mattresses. Purple actually offers three hybrid beds: the Purple Hybrid and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 & 4. Below I will explain why you might prefer one to the other and how they compare with the rest. Keep reading to discover if the Purple Hybrid mattress is right for YOU.

Purple Hybrid , also known as the Purple 2, is the thinnest of the hybrid options and stands at 11 inches thick. It is also more firm than the other models, making it ideal for stomach or back sleepers. It’s also the most affordable Purple Hybrid Mattress.

The Purple Hybrid Premier, formerly known as Purple 3, is 12 inches thick with a thicker Hyper-Elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes it feel slightly softer, and it lands at a medium-firm to medium-firm level on the scale. Compare Purple Mattress

Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid hybrid bed is the most expensive, but it is 13 inches thicker and more supportive than the others. It has a medium-firm profile and would be suitable for all body types, just like the Purple Hybrid Premier 3.

First impressions

The Purple Hybrid incorporates purple detailing throughout the bed, a great touch for an avid lover of the color. The cover has premium details that give it a more luxurious look than the Purple flagship mattress. What does the Purple mattress feel like?

It’s certainly not the same innerspring mattress that Grandma used in her guest room. It’s a completely new design for a bed and it ended up working in the company’s favor. Compare Purple Mattress

Purple Hybrid mattress firmness, feel and feel

Purple Hybrid beds are soft, airy and don’t feel like foam no matter what model they come in. If you press your finger on the center of the mattress, the squishy pieces will bend and change underneath.

It’s not super noticeable when you’re laying down, it just feels buoyant like you’re floating on your back or laying on a hammock. It’s very supportive due to the thick layer pocketed coils. I’ll explain this further below.

Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously provides pressure relief and support, while also maintaining a firmer profile. I believe it to be around a medium firm, or 7 on the firmness scale. While the soft squares aren’t pushed into your hips or shoulders if you lie sideways, they don’t feel like a typical firm mattress. However, my back and spine feel reinforced by the Hyper Elastic Polymer layer. I think it’s a tad bit firmer than the Original Purple mattress.

The Purple Hybrid is a great option if you don’t want to experiment with other bedding styles. But if you’re open to a mattress feel that takes pressure off your hips, shoulders and back while simultaneously making you feel weightless, you might be pleased with its benefits. Purple Hybrid Premier

The brand’s two upper-level hybrid beds have the same signature Purple feel, but they have a slightly softer profile because of their thicker layers of Hyper-Elastic Polymer.

I think they both land in between a medium to medium-firm, or around a 6 on the firmness scale. Compare Purple Mattress

Construction of Purple Hybrid mattresses

Compare Purple MattressPurple Hybrids come in three versions, each with a different layer of Purple Grid gel.

The Purple Hybrid is four layers thick and around 11 inches tall. Below is a breakdown of each layer of the Purple Hybrid bed. This will give you an idea about what makes Purple and Purple.

A thin slab made of basic foam approximately one inch thick that supports the thick layer of pocketed coils above.

A thick system containing 7.5-inch coils in pockets, each individually wrapped with fabric to prevent motion transfer. It’s what makes this mattress so supportive.

A thin half inch of foam to help neutralize any sensations caused by the pockets in the bed’s base.

The Hyper-Elastic polymer of the brand is 2 inches thick. It’s laid out in a grid structure. This is the primary layer that distinguishes it from the other two Purple Hybrid mattresses — each mattress has a different thickness of this layer. It is soft, bouncy and provides the majority of the Purple’s comfort.

Surrounding the edges are dense foam slabs to make the sides feel more supportive and sturdy.

The Purple’s StretchMax cover is atop, and it is, as the name suggests, extra-stretchy. It is more breathable that a typical mattress cover. I liken it more to an antisweat sports undergarment rather than a soft top made of cotton. Compare Purple Mattress

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers

The Purple Hybrid Premier mattress is the highest-rated option from the brand. Really, the only major differences in construction are the top layers.

Purple 3 has a layer of Hyper elastic Polymer at its top that measures 3 inches, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.

It doesn’t make a huge difference in feel, but they are softer than the Purple Hybrid. Compare Purple Mattress

Motion isolation

Motion isolation isn’t usually an innerspring bed’s forte, but with the pocketed coils and special material you find in the Purple Hybrid, it’s a different story.

I believe it’s quite effective at isolating motion even though it’s a super-bouncy mattress.

It almost makes no sound, so you’ll barely be able notice your partner’s movements on the other. Compare Purple Mattress

Edge support

The Purple Hybrid mattresses are constructed with firm foam around the edges to hold your body up more firmly if you tend to creep towards the side of the bed during the night.

This is why I give the edge support capabilities of this mattress two thumbs up.

Temperature

The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid doesn’t have any cooling materials, but its natural breathable design makes them one of the best mattresses to allow airflow.

It doesn’t retain heat in the same way as memory foam or Poly foam. This makes Purple a great choice for hot sleepers who need extra cooling. Although it’s not cold, I don’t feel too hot when I sleep on the Purple. Compare Purple Mattress

Purple Hybrid’s best sleeping positions and body types

You wouldn’t expect every size shirt to fit at your local clothing store.

There are many options. Your preference for a particular position and your body type are key factors in choosing the best mattress. Compare Purple Mattress

Position

There are three main sleeping positions: side, stomach or back. Purple Hybrid is recommended for stomach and back sleepers.

I would recommend the Purple Premier mattresses to side sleepers who really want the Purple Hybrid. They are a little more soft and pressure-relieving that the standard hybrid model, which will make them more beneficial for your sides and shoulders. Compare Purple Mattress

Body type

The Purple Hybrid beds can be used regardless of body weight, so no matter what size you are, they will fit you perfectly.

Purple Hybrid mattresses can be used by all body types as they are more supportive of traditional foam beds like Casper or Nectar. You will notice the layer of steel pocketed coils at the bottom. It is far more durable than foam. Over the next 10 years, you will see a significant difference in how this mattress holds up to time compared with an all-foam mattress. Compare Purple Mattress

Price

The Purple Hybrid is more costly than the original Purple and may not be the best choice for those looking to spend as low as possible on a bed. You might find it reasonable if you want to invest in your nights of sleep.

Purple Hybrid mattresses are available from twin XL up to California king. Prices start at $1299 and go up until $1,899. You won’t find any discounts on this bed but they may offer free sheets or pillows when you buy.

Purple Hybrid Mattress has metal coils enclosed in foam to offer support, softness, and durability.
