Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You may have noticed that stiffness was already mentioned within this list. That’s because one of the most important factors to take into consideration when buying for a new mattress is firmness (and how firmness affects comfort). These elements will reveal the bed’s ability to accommodate your preferred bed location (s). Let’s look at the comfort and firmness in the Helix mattress range.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a range of different hardness choices, with the softer being moderately soft and the most firm ones being moderately firm. Its Helix Sunset is on the softer end of the range We have given it a rating of 5.5 out of 10 in the firmness scale. (A 6.5/10 would be the standard industry norm for moderate firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10 which means that it’s more soft than the norm. Helix Dusk and the Helix Midnight, as well as Helix Dusk are between the spectrum. Both mattresses have a score of 7/10 which is slightly heavier than average. The Helix Twilight, as well as Helix Dawn are on the harder end of the spectrum with both receiving the 7.5/10 rating (firmer than average).

It is important to be aware that the level of hardness is a matter of individual preference. In terms of the firmness, you could assess these mattresses differently based on your weight and preferences. For instance, heavier people might find them more firm as they can push further into the mattress to get to the support layers. On the other hand, people who weigh less be surprised to find these mattresses softer since they are higher on the comfort level of each bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix beds for an lengthy time to get an idea of the experience it’s like to rest on each model in different positions. Take a peek at the results!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Company History Helix MattressDue to its softness, the Helix Sunset wasn’t supportive enough for back sleeping. Our hips were a bit too far in the bed, causing the spine to be misaligned.

While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for back sleepers but it’s great for side sleepers. We were really at ease in this position due to the soft mattress cushioned possible stress points around the hip and shoulder. In fact, it’s one of the most comfortable mattresses to relieve hip discomfort we’ve seen.

The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleep due it is soft. Our hips were too deep into the mattress which pulled our spine out of alignment, exactly like they did when we were back sleeping.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhen reclining in a back position, it was apparent that the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not exceptional. If you plan on sleeping in this position for the duration of the night, you’ll almost certainly need a more firm mattress with more support and assists in maintaining an appropriate spine alignment.

The Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping sideways because of its comfort. We didn’t feel any unwelcome pressure on the hip or shoulder.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t supportive enough for stomach sleeping. Our hips fell too deeply in the mattress leading the spine to shift.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhen we lay down on the Helix Midnight We felt amazing. We enjoyed a touch of pressure relief without sacrificing spinal alignment , thanks to the mattress’s great balance of support and comfort. It is the greatest mattress for back sleepers that we have reviewed on this list.

Even though the Helix Midnight is more firm in comparison to Helix Sunset and Moonlight, it is still a good mattress. Helix Sunset and Moonlight and Moonlight, we were able to rest comfortably on our backs on this mattress. It is a good pressure-relief mattress on the hip and shoulder, in our opinion.

As we lay on our stomachs in the Helix Midnight, we felt good , but not fantastic. People who sleep in this position all night should look for mattresses that are firmer and provide greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskIt’s the Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses we’ve tested, which may explain why we felt good while resting upon our backs. We’re confident that we’ll have good spinal alignment throughout the night thanks to the mattress’s supportive nature.

It’s probably not surprising that the Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for a side sleeper since we’ve shifted to the more firm end on the scale. We noticed some pressure on the hip and shoulder area, which would definitely cause discomfort if you slept in this position for a long time.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers who weigh around average, as it should assist them maintain appropriate spine alignment. However, stomach sleepers with heavier weights may not receive sufficient support.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the greatest bed for back pain. It’s ideal for back sleepers who require additional support owing to increased weight back pain, other causes. The firmer construction of this mattress aids in keeping the hips elevated and aligned to the spinal column.

Because it is the case that Helix Twilight is slightly firmer than other mattresses, we found it difficult to lie on our backs on this mattress. We felt like we were suffocated on the shoulders and hips.

For most stomach sleepers, the Helix Twilight to be an ideal fit, since the mattress’s firmness should give enough spinal support in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who prefer a firm mattress will appreciate the high degree of support. However, those who prefer an occasional relief from pressure when resting on their backs could find this mattress too firm.

It’s the Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping and you’ll end up with lots of pressure points in your shoulder and hip. The Helix Dawn that is soft will be much more suitable for side sleepers.

It is the Helix Dawn is the most comfortable mattresses for stomach-sleepers, in our opinion. Throughout the night, this firm and supportive mattress keeps the hips raised and aligned in alignment with your spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses are all hybrid structure that has foam layers over coils. Despite these similarities however, each Helix mattress has its own distinct individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top with a balanced foam feel. The soft comfort layer allows sleepers to relax and gives the mattress the feeling of a slow-moving.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy sensation, particularly when compared with the Sunset, which is less sensitive.

The Helix Midnight, like it’s predecessor, the Helix Sunset, is a balanced feel and a slow-moving top layer. The Midnight is more firm than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink further down into the layer above.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is because of the use of high-performance foam for the layer on top, and coils in the support layer.

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, features a slower-moving top. It’s still a sturdy mattress, even though the comfort layer is slightly more comfortable.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a firm, bouncy feel to it because of the use of foam that is dynamic (in the comfort layer) as well as coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

Helix Midnight (which is a combination of pressure reduction and spinal support) or the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) as well as Helix Dusk (which combines pressure reduction and spinal support) or Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which gives a firmer spinal support).

The Helix Late at Night (if your preference is a slightly harder sensation) or the softer and more pressure-reducing Helix Moonlight (or Sunset) is the most likely option for side sleepers of average weight.

For stomach sleepers, those of moderate weight should prefer the supportive Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for back sleepers who weigh a lot since it alleviates pressure while maintaining spinal alignment.

The softest models in the Helix range, such as the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset will provide enough pressure relief for heavier side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are heavy however tend to go to the Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) for proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There ought to be a range of types available for lightweight back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all have lots of support for the spine and various levels of pressure relief to suit various sleeping styles.

In the same way, side sleepers who are light can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset, which should all give adequate pressure relief while allowing users to customize the hardness level to their requirements.

Finally stomach sleepers will appreciate the Helix Twilight, or Dawn as the most supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

As far as construction is concerned, each of all of the Helix mattresses are constructed the same manner: They all have the same cover and the foam comfort layers are placed over individual the coils to support them.

Every Helix mattresses, and in particular they have the SoftTouch Design cover that is flexible, soft and air-tight. This allows air to flow freely across the top of the mattress. In addition, every Helix model is equipped with an extra layer of support that is made of individually wrapped coils that are stacked on top of a base foam with a high density which gives the mattress it’s overall design and strength.

The similarities end there for the most part. The comfort layers of these mattresses differ in the thickness, stiffness, arrangement, and types of foam. There are additional materials available in certain models. Let’s look at it more closely!.

Helix Sunset

The comfort layer of the Helix Sunset is made up of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which provides the slow-moving, comfortable feel that memory foam is known for. A layer of transition made up from Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s a bit more firm, bouncier and more bolstering, sits under that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Helix Sunset’s top comfort layer is composed of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s comfort layer and transition layer are made of Helix’s Dynamic Foam. This is another latex-foam option, and the multiple layers of this dynamic foam give it a bouncy feel when compared to Helix Sunset. Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the main comfort layer in the Helix Midnight, and it offers pressure reduction as well as body shaping. A layer of transitional, high-grade polyfoam sits underneath that Memory Plus Foam. The layer is extremely responsive, implying that the mattress in general responds to pressure more quickly.

Helix Dusk

The Helix Dusk’s primary comfort layer is made up out of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s bouncy and receptive. It’s a layer of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think of Dusk’s structure as similar to that from the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam is layered over Memory Plus Foam to create a bouncy smooth surface. Memory Plus Foam helps relieve pressure as sleepers sink into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above an extremely dense and high-grade polyfoam transition layer. Its Memory Plus Foam adds some ease of use, but don’t be deceived by this being a mattress that is firm with very only a little bounce.

Helix Dawn

Then, last but not least The Helix Dawn comes with a Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer layered over a thick, high-quality polyfoam layer transition layer. This creates a soft, bouncy and comfortable sleep surface with very minimal give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We tested the Helix mattresses to a set of tests to find out the performance of these mattresses in key areas such as the regulation of temperature and edge support, motion transfer and other areas. Keep reading to find out how they fared!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Are you sleeping hot or cold? If you’re worried about overheating, consider purchasing a LUXE version of your mattress.

Motion Transfer

As we have seen in our tests that some mattresses outperform others in minimising disturbances to the mattress’s surface. It was found that the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight have the highest level of motion-seclusion. It’s due they have a memory foam that is slower moving at the top of each of the models, it does an excellent job of absorbing motion. These are among the most comfortable mattresses for couples that are available on the market.

Edge Support

Every Helix mattress offered an excellent edge support throughout the range. While sitting and sleeping near the edges of every model, we felt safe.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are constructed with strong coils and high-density foams to ensure they’ll last for a long duration.

Off-Gassing

We noticed an off-gassing issue from the six Helix mattresses initially. The issue will be gone within a couple of days or perhaps sooner.

Noise

There was no noticeable noise while moving about on the mattresses during the time of our review. Since all of them have coils, it’s probable that they’ll begin to make noise as time passes.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, most people are worried about how easy it is to change positions on the mattress. Because all of the Helix mattresses feature coils, they must be sufficient that you can move around with ease on each. The models that feature memory foam in the upper layer (particularly Helix Sunset, Midnight and Twilight) Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing your position a bit more difficult because of their slow motion.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial period of sleep as well as a 10-year mattress guarantee are provided with each Helix mattress.
