Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You may have noticed that stiffness was already mentioned within this list. That’s because one of the most important factors to take into consideration when shopping for the best mattress is its firmness (and how firmness affects comfort). These elements will reveal the bed’s ability to accommodate your preferred bed position (s). Let’s take a closer look at the comfort and firmness that comes with the Helix mattress range.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a variety of hardness options, with the softest being moderately soft and the firmest being fairly firm. The Helix Sunset is on the lower end of the scale and we gave it a hardness rating that was 5.5 out of 10 in the firmness scale. (A 6.5/10 would be the industry standard for moderate firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10 that means it’s less firm than average. Helix Dusk and the Helix Midnight, as well as Helix Dusk fall somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Both of these mattresses received a rating of around 7/10 which is slightly more firm than the average. Helix Twilight and the Helix Twilight, as well as Helix Dawn are on the firmer side of the spectrum, both getting a 7.5/10 assessment (firmer than the average).

It’s important to remember that the degree of firmness is a personal preference. In terms of the firmness, you could assess these mattresses differently based on your body weight and personal preferences. People who are heavier, for instance might find them more firm because they are able to press further into the mattress to get to the support layers. On the other hand, people who weigh less find that these mattresses are softer since they are higher within the comfortable layer every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix mattresses for a lengthy period of time in order to gain an accurate picture of what it’s like lie on the models in different positions. Have a look at the results!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Can You Use Helix Mattress With Adjustable Base?Due to its softness, due to its softness, the Helix Sunset wasn’t supportive enough for back sleeping. Our hips were a bit too deeply in the bed, causing the spine to become misaligned.

While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for those who sleep on their backs, it’s ideal for those who prefer to sleep sideways. We were very relaxed in this position as the mattress’s softness cushioned any stress points around the shoulder and hip. In actual fact, it’s one of the best mattresses for hip pain we’ve seen.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping because it is soft. Our hips sank too deeply into the mattress, pulling the spine out of alignment just as they did when we were asleep back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhen reclining in a back position, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you’re planning to sleep in this position for the entire through the night, you’ll require a mattress that provides extra support and aids in maintaining appropriate spinal alignment.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping due to its softness. There was no unwelcome pressure on the hip or shoulder.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips sank too deeply to the bed, which caused the spine to misalign.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhen we lay down in the Helix Midnight We felt amazing. We enjoyed a touch of pressure relief without sacrificing spinal alignment thanks to the mattress’s great balance of support and comfort. It’s the most comfortable mattress for back sleepers that we have reviewed on this list.

Even though the Helix Midnight is more firm than Helix Sunset and Moonlight, it is still a good mattress. Helix Sunset and Moonlight, we were able to rest comfortably on our backs on the mattress. It is a good pressure-relief mattress between the hip and shoulder, in our opinion.

As we lay on our stomachs in the Helix Midnight, we were good , but not fantastic. People who sleep in this position throughout the night should consider an extra firm mattress that offers more spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than other models we’ve tried, which could explain why we felt good while resting in our backs. We’re confident that we’ll have an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night because of the mattress’s supportive nature.

It’s likely not a surprise to find that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for side sleeping since we’ve shifted to the more firm end in the range. We felt some pressure around the hip and shoulder area that could cause discomfort if you sleep in this position all night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight because it will help them maintain appropriate spine alignment. However, heavier stomach sleepers may not find sufficient support in this model.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the best mattress for back discomfort. It’s ideal for back sleepers who require additional support owing to weight gain or back pain, as well as other reasons. The firmer construction of this mattress assists in keeping hips lifted and in alignment to the spinal column.

Since this mattress Helix Twilight is on the firmer side It was difficult to lay on our backs on the mattress. We felt as if we were being suffocated by the hips and shoulders.

The majority of stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight to be an ideal fit, since the mattress’s hardness will give enough spinal support for this type of position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who prefer an extra firm mattress will love the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. However, those who like a little pressure alleviation while lying on their backs may likely find this mattress too firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too difficult to sleep on side and you’ll be left with lots of pressure points around your hips and shoulders. A softer model will be considerably better for side sleepers.

It is the Helix Dawn Mattress is one of the best mattresses for stomach-sleepers, in our opinion. Through the night the firm and supportive mattress helps keep the hips elevated and in alignment to the spinal column.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses have a hybrid design that incorporates foam over coils. Despite these similarities every Helix mattress has its own distinct character.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a balanced foam feel. The plush comfort layer encourages sleepers to feel comfortable and provides the mattress with a slow-moving feel.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, offers a lively sensation, especially when contrasted with the Sunset that is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight similar to it’s predecessor, the Helix Sunset, has a balanced feel and a slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset and allows sleepers to sink deeper into the top layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and lively. This is due to the use of dynamic foam on the upper layer as well as coils in the layer supporting it.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, features a slower-moving top. It’s still a solid mattress, with the comfort layer being a little more enveloping.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a soft, firm and bouncy feel it due to the use of foam that is dynamic (in the cushion layer) and coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

It is the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure reduction) or Helix Dusk (which combines pressure reduction and spinal support) or Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which gives a firmer spinal support).

Sleeping on the Helix Late at Night (if you prefer a slightly harder sensation) or the softer and more pressure-reducing Helix Moonlight and Sunset are the most likely option for side sleepers of average weight.

The stomach sleepers who are of moderate weight should consider the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for heavyweight back sleepers because it eases pressure and maintains spinal alignment.

The most soft models of the Helix range, like the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset are likely to provide adequate pressure relief for heavier side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are heavy On the other hand, will most likely go to Helix Dawn. Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) to ensure proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a wide range of options for light back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all offer plenty of support for the spine and various levels of pressure relief that can accommodate different styles of sleeping.

In the same way, side sleepers who are light can select from Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset and should give adequate pressure relief while allowing users to customize the hardness level to their requirements.

Finally stomach sleepers will appreciate Helix Twilight or Dawn to be the most supportive. Helix Twilight and Dawn as the most supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

In terms of construction, all of Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way. Helix mattresses are built in the same way. They share the same cover and foam comfort layers are layered above individual wrapped the coils to support them.

All Helix mattresses, including, have the SoftTouch Design cover that is flexible, soft and breathable. The design lets air flow freely across the top of the mattress. In addition, every Helix model is equipped with a support layer made up of coils individually wrapped and stacked on top of a base foam with a high density which gives the mattress the overall shape and stability.

The similarities end there for the most part. The comfort layers of these mattresses differ in their density, stiffness, placement and the types of foam. Additional materials are also available on some versions. Let’s take a examine it more carefully!.

Helix Sunset

Its cushion of comfort is made up of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which offers the slower-moving feel that memory foam is renowned for. A layer of transition made up comprised of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s more firm, bouncier and more bolstering, sits beneath that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Helix Sunset’s top comfort layer is comprised from Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s primary comfort layer and transition layer is made of Helix Dynamic Foam. This is yet another latex-foam choice with multiple layers of this dynamic foam give it a bouncy feel when compared with Helix Sunset. Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the primary comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it offers pressure reduction as well as body shaping. A layer of transitional, high-grade polyfoam sits under the Memory Plus Foam. This layer is very responsive, implying that the mattress in general reacts faster to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The Dusk’s main comfort layer is made up of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s bouncy and receptive. It’s a layer composed of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think of Dusk’s design as similar to the one of that of the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam can be laid over Memory Plus Foam to produce a bouncy, responsive surface, while Memory Plus Foam offers pressure relief as sleepers sink into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above a dense, high-grade polyfoam transition layer. The Memory Plus Foam adds some comfort, but don’t be fooled: this is an extremely firm mattress that has very less give.

Helix Dawn

Last but not least, the Helix Dawn has a Helix Comfort Layer made of Dynamic Foam that is layered over a thick, high-quality polyfoam layer transition layer. This combination produces a firm, bouncy, and supple sleep surface that has very minimal give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We put the Helix mattresses through a set of tests to find out the performance of these mattresses in key areas including temperature control as well as motion transfer, edge support and much many more. Continue reading to find out what they did!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Do you feel hot or cold when sleeping? If you’re worried about your mattress being too hot, you might want to consider buying a LUXE version of your mattress.

Motion Transfer

Based on our testing, some models outperform other models when it comes to minimising disturbances to the surface of the mattress. The Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight offered the most effective motion-seclusion. That’s because to the slower-moving memory foam near the top of each of these models, which do great job at absorption of motion. These are the best mattresses for couples that are available on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress provided good edge support across all models. When we sat and slept at the edge of each model, we felt safe.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are constructed with high-density foams and robust coils to ensure they’ll last for a long period of duration.

Off-Gassing

We noticed the off-gassing of the six Helix mattresses at first. This will go away within a couple of days, if not sooner.

Noise

There was no noticeable sound when moving around on the mattresses during the time of our review. Since all of these mattresses have coils, it’s likely that they’ll begin to make noise with time.

Sex

If you are looking for a sexual mattress, a majority of people are concerned about how easy it will be to move places on their bed. Because all of the Helix mattresses are made of coils, they should be flexible enough to allow you to move easily across any of them. The models that have memory foam in the upper layer (particularly those that have memory foam in the top layer (such as Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing your position a bit more difficult due to their slow motion.
