Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You might have noticed that stiffness has already been discussed within this list. That’s because one of the most important aspects to think about when buying for a new mattress is firmness (and how firmness affects the comfort). These elements will reveal a lot about a mattress’s suitability for your chosen sleeping place (s). Let’s look at the quality and firmness that comes with the Helix mattress collection.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a variety of hardness options, with the softest being moderately soft, and the firmest being fairly firm. The Helix Sunset is on the lower end of the scale; we have given it a rating that was 5.5 /10 on the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 would be the industry standard for medium firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10, which means it’s still more soft than the norm. Helix Dusk and the Helix Midnight as well as the Helix Dusk sit somewhere between the spectrum. Both of these mattresses scored approximately a 7/10 which is slightly heavier than average. The Helix Twilight, as well as Helix Dawn are on the firmer side of the spectrum with both receiving an 7.5/10 rating (firmer than the average).

It’s crucial to keep in mind that the degree of firmness is a personal preference. When it comes to the firmness, you could evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your body weight and your personal preferences. For instance, heavier people could find the mattresses more firm because they are able to press further into the mattress to reach into the support layers. However, those who are lighter may discover that these mattresses are less firm due to the fact that they are located higher on the comfort level of each bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix mattresses for a long period of time in order to gain an idea of what it’s like rest on each model in different positions. Have a look at what we discovered!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Buy Helix MattressBecause of its softness, the Helix Sunset didn’t feel nearly supportive enough for back sleeping. The hips of ours sink a little too far down into our mattress which caused the spine to become misaligned.

The Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for back sleepers It’s perfect for those who sleep on their sides. We were really at ease in this position due to the mattress’s softness helped cushion any tension points in the hip and shoulder. In actual fact, it’s one of the greatest mattresses to relieve hip discomfort that we’ve come across.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleep due of its softness. Our hips were too deep into the mattress which pulled our spinal column out of its alignment, exactly as they did when we were sleeping back to back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhile back sleeping, it was apparent that the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not outstanding. If you’re planning on sleeping in this position for the entire through the night, you’ll require a mattress that provides extra support and aids in maintaining the proper alignment of your spine.

The Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping sideways due to its softness. There was no unwelcome tension around the hip or shoulder.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips fell too deeply to the bed, causing the spine to misalign.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhen we lay down on the Helix Midnight and feeling fantastic, we were able to feel great. We experienced a bit of pressure relief without sacrificing spinal alignment thanks to the mattress’s great balance of support and comfort. It’s the best mattress for back sleepers that we have reviewed on this list.

Even though the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer than Helix Sunset and Moonlight, it is still a good mattress. Helix Sunset or Moonlight and Moonlight, we found it pleasant to sleep on our sides on the mattress. It offers adequate pressure relief on the hip and shoulder in our opinion.

While stomach sleeping on the Helix Midnight, we felt well, but not super. If you sleep in this position all night should look for mattresses that are firmer and provide more spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses that we’ve tested. This could be the reason we felt so comfortable while lying in our backs. We’re certain that we’ll enjoy an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night thanks to the mattress’s supportive nature.

It’s likely not a surprise it is that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for a side sleeper considering that we’ve moved to the more firm end in the range. We noticed some pressure on the hip and shoulder area, which would definitely cause significant discomfort if you slept in this position for the entire night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers who weigh around average since it can help in maintaining a proper spinal alignment. However, heavier stomach sleepers may not receive enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the ideal bed for back discomfort. It’s the ideal mattress for back sleepers who require more support due to weight gain back pain, other factors. The firmer construction of this mattress helps in keeping hips lifted and properly aligned to the spinal column.

Since it is the case that Helix Twilight is slightly firmer than other mattresses It was difficult to lie on our backs on this mattress. We felt suffocated in the shoulders and hips.

For most stomach sleepers, the Helix Twilight mattress to be a great one, as the mattress’ hardness should offer enough support to the spine for this type of position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who like a firm mattress will appreciate the high degree of support. However, those who like an occasional relief from pressure when resting on their backs could find this mattress to be excessively firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too difficult to sleep on side and you’ll end up with a lot of pressure points in your shoulder and hip. A softer model will be considerably better for those who sleep on their sides.

It is the Helix Dawn mattress is considered to be the most comfortable mattress designed for stomach sleepers in our opinion. Throughout the night the firm and supportive mattress will keep your hips up and aligned to the spinal column.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses are all hybrid composition with foam layered over coils. However, despite these similarities, each model has its own distinct character.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top with a balanced foam feel. The plush comfort layer encourages sleepers to feel comfortable and provides the mattress with the feeling of a slow-moving.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared to the Sunset that is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight, like Helix Sunset, like Helix Sunset, offers a smooth, even texture and slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink more deeply down into the layer above.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is due to the use of dynamic foam in the top layer as well as coils in the support layer.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, features a slower-moving top. It’s still a sturdy mattress, with the comfort layer being slightly more comfortable.

The Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a bouncy, firm feel to it because to the use of foam that is dynamic (in the comfort layer) along with coils (in the support layer).

Finally, stomach sleepers with a moderate weight should choose the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

The stomach sleepers who are heavy however are likely to move toward The Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) for the best spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a variety of types available for lightweight back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all provide plenty of spinal support and different degrees of pressure relief to accommodate different styles of sleeping.

Helix Mattresses Construction

In terms of construction, all of all of the Helix mattresses are constructed the same manner: They have the same cover and foam comfort layers are placed over individual wrapped the coils to support them.

Every Helix mattresses, including, have the SoftTouch Design cover that is soft, elastic, and air-tight. This allows air to circulate freely through the mattress’s top. Meanwhile, each Helix model comes with a support layer made up of individually wrapped coils that are stacked on top of a base foam with a high density which gives the mattress the overall shape and strength.

The similarities end there for the most part. The cushions’ comfort layers vary in size, stiffness, layout and the types of foam. Additional materials are also available in certain models. Let’s look at it more closely!.

Helix Sunset

The comfort layer of the Helix Sunset is comprised of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which gives you the slow-moving feeling that memory foam is renowned for. A layer of transition made up from Helix Dynamic foam, a foam made of latex that’s larger, more bouncier, and more bolstering, sits underneath that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Sunset’s comfort layer is composed out of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s primary comfort layer and the transition layer is made of Helix Dynamic Foam. This is yet another latex-foam choice, and the multiple layers of this dynamic foam gives it a buoyant feel when compared with Helix Sunset. Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the primary comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it offers pressure reduction as well as body shaping. A layer of transitional, high-grade polyfoam sits under the Memory Plus Foam. This layer is very responsive, which means that the mattress in general responds to pressure more quickly.

Helix Dusk

The Dusk’s main comfort layer is made of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s soft and receptive. A layer composed of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think about the Dusk’s construction as similar to the one from the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam is laid on top of Memory Plus Foam to produce a bouncy smooth surface. Memory Plus Foam provides pressure relief as sleepers sink deeper into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

It’s the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above the dense, high-quality polyfoam transition layer. The Memory Plus Foam adds some comfort, but don’t be deceived by this being a firm mattress with only a little bounce.

Helix Dawn

Last but not least, the Helix Dawn has the Helix dynamic foam comfort layer layered over a thick, high-quality polyfoam transition layer. The result is an extremely firm, bouncey, and comfortable sleep surface with very minimal give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We tested our Helix mattresses to a series of tests to determine the performance of these mattresses in key areas such as temperature regulation and edge support, motion transfer and many more. Continue reading to find out the results!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Are you sleeping hot or cold? If you’re still concerned about your mattress being too hot, you might want to consider buying a LUXE version of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

As we have seen in our tests certain models are better than others in keeping out any disturbances that might occur on your mattress’s top. The Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight provided the best motion isolation. That’s because to the slower-moving memory foam at the top of all of these models, it does well at absorption of motion. These are some of the most comfortable mattresses for couples available on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress offered excellent edge support across all models. When we sat and slept at the edge of each model, we felt safe.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are manufactured with high-density foams as well as sturdy coils, ensuring that they will last for a long duration.

Off-Gassing

We did notice the off-gassing of the six Helix mattresses initially. It will disappear within a couple of days, or perhaps sooner.

Noise

There was no noticeable noise while moving about on any of these mattresses during the time we wrote our test. However, because all of these mattresses have coils, it’s possible that they’ll begin to squeak as time passes.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, a majority of people are concerned about how easy it will be to move places on their mattress. Because all of the Helix mattresses are made of coils, they should be flexible enough to allow you to move around easily on all of them. The models that have memory foam on the upper layer (particularly those that have memory foam in the top layer (such as Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) may make changing positions harder due to their slower motion.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial of sleep and 10 years of mattress warranty are provided with each Helix mattress.
