Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel
It’s likely that stiffness was already mentioned throughout this article. It’s because one of most important aspects to think about when shopping for a new mattress is firmness (and how firmness affects comfort). These factors will tell you a lot about a mattress’s suitability for your chosen sleeping position (s). Let’s have a look at the firmness and feel that comes with the Helix mattress series.
What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?
The Helix mattresses are available in a wide range of options, with the most soft being moderately soft, and the firmest being fairly firm. Helix Sunset Helix Sunset is on the soft side of the spectrum; we evaluated it with a score at 5.5 out of 10 in the firmness scale. (A 6.5/10 is the standard industry norm for medium firmness.) Its Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a 6/10 that means it’s softer than normal. Helix Dusk and the Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk are in the middle of the spectrum. Both mattresses received a rating of around 7/10 which is slightly more firm than the average. They are Helix Twilight, as well as Helix Dawn are on the firmer side of the spectrum, with both getting an 7.5/10 assessment (firmer than average).
It’s important to be aware that the level of hardness is a matter of personal preference. When it comes to the firmness, you could rate these mattresses differently depending on your body weight and your personal preferences. Heavier persons, for example, may find these mattresses more firm because they are able to press further into the mattress and reach into the support layers. On the other hand, people who weigh less be surprised to find these mattresses more supple due to their position within the comfortable layer every bed(s).
Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses
We slept on the Helix mattress for a long period in order to get a clear picture of what it’s like to lie on the models in various positions. Check out what we found!
Helix Sunset Mattress
Due to its softness, the Helix Sunset didn’t feel nearly supportive enough for back sleeping. The hips of ours sink a little too far down into our mattress causing the spine to be misaligned.
Although the Helix Sunset’s gentleness isn’t ideal for those who sleep on their backs, it’s ideal for side sleepers. We felt very relaxed in this position as the mattress’s softness cushioned any pressure areas around the hip and shoulder. In fact, it’s one of the greatest mattresses for hip pain that we’ve come across.
The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping because to its softness. Our hips were too deep into the mattress which pulled our back out of position just as they did when we were back sleeping.
Helix Moonlight Mattress
As a back sleeper while sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you plan on sleeping in this position for the entire night, you’ll probably want a firmer mattress that offers additional support and helps maintain an appropriate spine alignment.
It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping on the side due to its softness. We didn’t feel any uncomfortable tension around the hip or shoulder.
The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips fell too deeply in the mattress causing the spine to shift.
Helix Midnight Mattress
When we lay down on the Helix Midnight, we felt fantastic. We experienced a bit of pressure relief without sacrificing spine alignment due to the mattress’s excellent balance of support and comfort. It’s the most comfortable mattress for back sleepers that we have reviewed on this list.
Even though the Helix Midnight is firmer than it’s counterparts, the Helix Sunset or Moonlight We discovered it to be comfortable to sleep on our backs on this mattress. It provides adequate pressure alleviation around the shoulder and hip in our opinion.
While stomach sleeping on the Helix Midnight, we felt well, but not super. People who sleep in this position all night long should look for mattresses that are firmer and provide greater spinal support.
Helix Dusk Mattress
It’s the Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses that we’ve tested. This could be the reason we felt so good while resting upon our backs. We’re sure that we’ll be able to maintain an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night due to the mattress’s supportive qualities.
It’s probably not surprising that the Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for side sleeping since we’ve shifted to the firmer end in the range. We felt some pressure around the hip and shoulder area, which would definitely cause significant discomfort if you were to sleep in this position for a long time.
The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers who weigh around average since it can help to maintain a healthy spine alignment. However, stomach sleepers with heavier weights might not get sufficient support.
Helix Twilight Mattress
The Helix Twilight was proved to be the greatest bed for back pain. It’s the ideal mattress for back sleepers who require extra support due to increased weight back pain, other causes. The firmer structure of this mattress helps in keeping hips lifted and in alignment to the spinal column.
Since it is the case that Helix Twilight is slightly firmer than other mattresses It was difficult to lay on our backs on the mattress. We felt as if we were being suffocated by the hips and shoulders.
The majority of stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight to be a great fit, since the mattress’ hardness should offer enough support to the spine in this position.
Helix Dawn Mattress
Back sleepers who favor mattresses that are firm will appreciate the high degree of support. However, those who prefer an occasional relief from pressure while lying on their backs could find this mattress to be too firm.
The Helix Dawn is far too hard to be used for sleeping on your side and you’ll end up having a lot of pressure points on your hips and shoulders. The Helix Dawn that is soft is much better for sleepers who prefer side sleeping.
The Helix Dawn is the most comfortable mattresses for stomach-sleepers, in our opinions. Through the night this supportive and firm mattress keeps the hips raised and aligned with the spine.
What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?
Helix mattresses are all hybrid design that incorporates foam over coils. However, despite these similarities however, each model has its own distinct personality.
The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a well-balanced foam feel. The plush comfort layer encourages sleepers to sink in and provides the mattress with the feeling of a slow-moving.
The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy sensation, particularly when compared with the Sunset one, which is more sensitive.
The Helix Midnight is, just like Helix Sunset, like Helix Sunset, has a smooth, even texture and smooth top layer that moves slowly. The Midnight is firmer than the Sunset which allows sleepers to sink further in the upper layer.
The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncey. This is due to the use of active foam on the upper layer and coils in the support layer.
It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. It’s still a sturdy mattress despite the comfort layer being slightly more cushiony.
Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a soft, firm and bouncy feel it because of the use of foam that is dynamic (in the layer of comfort) and coils (in the support layer).
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs
The Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure relief) or the Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by back sleepers (which offers firmer spinal support).
The Helix Midnight (if want a slightly more spongy feeling) or the softer and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight and Sunset are the most likely option for average-weight side sleepers.
Finally, stomach sleepers with a moderate weight should choose the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs
It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for those who are heavy-weight back sleepers because it eases pressure while maintaining spinal alignment.
The softest models in the Helix range, such as Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset will provide enough pressure relief for heavier side sleepers.
Heavyweight stomach sleepers, on the other hand are likely to move to the Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) to ensure proper spinal support.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs
There should be a wide range of types available for lightweight back sleepers: The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all provide plenty of spinal support as well as different levels of pressure relief that can accommodate various sleeping styles.
Similarly, lightweight side sleepers can pick from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset, which should all offer adequate pressure relief, while allowing users to customize the hardness level to their preferences.
Finally, stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight, or Dawn as the most comfortable.
Helix Mattresses Construction
Regarding construction and construction methods, the majority Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way. Helix mattresses are built in the same way: They all have the same cover, and the same foam comfort layers are layered above individual wrapped coil support layers.
Every Helix mattresses, in particular the newest models, come with a SoftTouch Design cover that is flexible, soft and breathable. The design lets air circulate freely throughout the mattress’s top. In addition, every Helix model is equipped with a support layer made up of individually wrapped coils stacked over a dense base foam which gives the mattress its overall structure and stability.
The similarities end there for the most part. The foam layers that provide comfort vary in size, stiffness, layout and the types of foam. Additional materials are also offered on certain versions. Let’s take a closer look!.
Helix Sunset
The comfort layer of the Helix Sunset is made up of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which offers the slower-moving feel which memory foam has become renowned for. A layer of transition made up of Helix Dynamic foam, a foam made of latex that’s larger, more bouncier, and more supporting, sits under that Memory Plus Foam.
Helix Moonlight
The Helix Sunset’s top layer of comfort is composed out of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s comfort layer and transition layer are made of Helix’s Dynamic Foam. It is a different latex-foam alternative and the numerous layers of this foam provide a lively feel when compared to Helix Sunset. Helix Sunset.
Helix Midnight
Memory Plus Foam is the principal comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it helps reduce pressure and body shaping. A transition layer of dense high-quality polyfoam is placed underneath the Memory Plus Foam. The layer is extremely flexible, meaning that the mattress overall responds to pressure more quickly.
Helix Dusk
The Helix Dusk’s primary comfort layer is constructed of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s soft and receptive. The layer is made of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think of the Dusk’s structure as being identical to that from the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam can be layered on top of Memory Plus Foam to create a lively and responsive surface. Memory Plus Foam offers pressure relief when sleepers lie down on the mattress.
Helix Twilight
The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above the dense, high-quality polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. The Memory Plus Foam adds some comfort, but don’t be deceived by this being an extremely firm mattress that has very less give.
Helix Dawn
Last but not least, the Helix Dawn has an Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer layered over a thick, high-quality polyfoam transition layer. The result is a soft, bouncy and comfortable sleep surface with very minimal give.

Helix Mattresses Performance
We put our Helix mattress through a set of tests to determine the performance of these mattresses in key areas including the regulation of temperature as well as edge support, motion transfer, and other areas. Read on to learn the results!
Sleeping Hot or Cold
Do you feel hot or cold when sleeping? If you’re worried about overheating, consider purchasing a LUXE version of your mattress.
Motion Transfer
According to our tests certain models are better than others when it comes to keeping out any disturbances that might occur on the mattress’s surface. It was found that the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight offered the most effective motion-seclusion. That’s because there is a slower-moving memory foam close to the top of all of these models, which does an excellent job of absorption of motion. These are the top mattresses for couples available on the market.
Edge Support
Each Helix mattress provided an excellent edge support across the board. While sitting and sleeping on the edges of each model, we felt safe.
Durability
The Helix mattresses are made from high-density foams and robust coils which ensure that they can last for a long period of time.
Off-Gassing
We did notice some off-gassing from the six Helix mattresses in the beginning. The issue will be gone in a few days, in the event that it is not earlier.
Noise
We didn’t hear any distinct noise when we moved around on the mattresses during the time of our review. Since each mattress has coils, it’s probable that they’ll begin to make noise over time.
Sex
If you are looking for a sexual mattress, most individuals are concerned about how simple it will be to move places on their bed. Because all of the Helix mattresses are made of coils, they are flexible enough that you can move around easily on each. The models that feature memory foam in the upper layer (particularly, Helix Sunset, Midnight and Twilight) Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) may make changing your position a bit harder due to their slower movement.
Information on the Warranty
A 100-night sleep trial and 10 years of mattress warranty come in every Helix mattress.
